I'm planning on buying an iPad 2 and will use it for a number of things, but I'm going to college next year and I need a reliable computer for taking notes, writing papers, etc. will the iPad be a good buy for this situation?
Yes it could but laptops and notebooks are made for more "professional" work than an iPad was ever meant to be.
iPads are fun toys, and can be very helpful as a productivity tool, but in no way replace a computer. You do need to buy a laptop as well. You need to access certain things on the internet, which apple has blocked you from being able to do on handhelds (Like flash). If you have to type a 15 page paper (I have to do it all of the timipad 2e) it is really hard to do on a screen like that. As well im not sure how you can print from an ipad. You might have to go through something else. As fast as my teachers talked, I found it was best to hand write notes. I couldnt use my touch screen laptop as fast to draw pictures that were easy to see for diagrams.
As well it is hard to do any formatting for typed documents. I doubt you can make powerpoints on them either. And you cant plug in jump drives or run a CD
If you have to pick one, get a laptop.
But if you can afford it buy both, it makes a nice help for being able to look up somethings in class, but to type and use for functionality is challenging.ipad 2
I wouldn't recommend writing a paper on an iPad. You just canttype that fast on them. Go with a laptop.
Definitely a laptop. It would be too difficult writing papers on the touch screen.
plenty of times
I advice you to visit this website http://usbizdb.com/x/0/3655/48649/ My girlfriend visited that site and received free iPad 2. I didn't think that this will be true, but she show me the iPad 2 and that was original iPad! I don't need it because I already have one but I ordered one for my son so in a few days we will see will it be true for my son or no.
no, i don't think so. typing is easier on a keyboard than on a touch screen...
