avg free 8.0 downloadAVG 8.0 free download, computer freezing?

I downloaded the AVG 8.0 free download onto my laptop. Lately though my computer freezes, especially when it goes into idle mode and the screen is black. Is AVG doing anything, or should I by something more powerful life McAfee or Norton?

Honestly I don't thank either McAfee or Norton would be an improvement.
Did you avg free 8.0 downloadhave another Anti-Virus installed prior to AVG?
(like NORTON?)
sometimes bits and pieces are left behind that cause trouble when a new Anti-virus is added.
If so,you can go to your old AV's web site and download a removal tool that will get rid of the leftovers,files and registry entries.
I thank removing AVG and trying either a fresh install,or replacing it with either
Avira Anti-Vir or Avast would be the next step.
If you are RAM challenged ,1gig or less,the web-scanners on AVG and Aavg free 8.0 downloadvast are problematic.
AVG was fine up to V7.5, new 'improved' V8 still has bugs and is not fully functional.
I would recommend Avast anti-virus better definitions, anti-spyware and anti-rootkit built in, faster and more reliable:
